Dr. 卡尔维. Hoover is Associate Professor 和 Director of Laboratories in the Department of 机械 和 Aeronautical Engineering at Clarkson University.  Dr. Hoover teaches h和s-on experimental engineering courses in our laboratories 和 researches machine learning engineering applications.  Dr. Hoover oversees several engineering research facilities in the Center for Advanced Materials Processing building at Clarkson including our wind tunnel facility 和 several mechanical testing labs.  Carl brings over 15 years of industry experience to the classroom with experience ranging from aerospace test engineering to executive leadership.  Prior to returning to academia, Carl served as Chief Technology Officer of the global data science firm Elder 研究.  Carl managed Elder's R&D组合, led a world-class team of data scientists, 和 served on several defense 和 intelligence applied research projects.  Carl continues to consult as a Senior Advisor at Elder 和 teaches data science through Mizzou's Data Science & Analytics graduate program. Dr. Hoover is modernizing Clarkson's engineering laboratory experience with new applications in aerospace virtual twin, 智能传感器, 物联网, autonomous vehicles, 数据中心电源 & thermal management, flight simulation, additive manufacturing, calibration & metrology, industrial process controls 和 biomechanical sensors.  Carl earned mechanical engineering doctorate 和 masters degrees from Clarkson University 和 a bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia.

My research interests are in machine learning 和 experimental testing. Current projects include AI machine design automation with bond graph deep learning, aeroelastic impedance control, temporal relational dependence modeling in STEM, predicting mood from posture 和 gait, 和 aerospace virtual twin engineering.
